Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Since we hadn't had had our fill of sports we decided to head down to Target Field for one of the last games of the season in the new field. I had refused to attend any baseball games during my first 2 summers in Minnesota, because I was not going to watch baseball indoors. That is right, they have played indoors at the Metrodome for years. That is the same place the Vikings play. I was happy with my decision to wait.

Target Field is a great baseball stadium. It was roomy and clean and designed very well. It definitely represents the history of Minnesota baseball. I loved that our seats were behind 3rd base so we got an amazing view of the Minneapolis skyline.

In the outfield there is a neon sign depicting a set of "Twins" (Minneapolis and St. Paul). Everytime the Twins score the sign lights up and the "Twins" shake hands. It is cute. It reminds me of the Dayton Dragons score board blowing smoke out of the Dragon when they score.

The Twins played the Cleveland Indians (my hometown team) and beat them. I had my Indians t-shirt on and I think I might have been the only Indians fan. In fact, I got a lot of stares, and they weren't friendly. Oh well! The Twins won and moved into the Playoffs.

We had a great time and are looking forward to next season to enjoy more games. Quite frankly, I am looking forward to the summer in general so that we can really enjoy it. It blew by too quickly this year. I blinked and it was gone.

HAH. Coming from Houston, when I moved to Pittsburgh and Cincy, I was all, OMG YOU PLAY BASEBALL OUTDOORS? In Htown, we don't do ANYTHING that can't be air conditioned. :P
